U.S. Immigration Law
Visa Revalidation in the
U.S.
It had been possible for
nonimmigrant visa holders in several categories
(C, E, H, I, L, O & P) to revalidate their
expired visas in the United States through the
Department of State's Visa Revalidation Unit
without having to apply for a new visa at a U.S.
Consulate abroad. However, due to the new
requirement of biometric identifiers for all
visas issued after July 6, 2004, the
Department of State has ceased all visa
revalidations.
